Dr. Dawn M. Romano holds a Ph.D. in Counseling from the University of New Orleans. She has over 25 years experience in the fields of counseling and education, having held the positions of Assistant Professor of Counseling at the University of San Diego, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University, University of New Orleans, Louisiana State University - Lafayette, and Florida Gulf State University. Currently a member of the Board of Directors for Edward Hynes Charter School, Dr. Romano is a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Board Approved Counselor Supervisor in Louisiana. Dr. Romano has published articles in several referred journals, and is a trusted guest mental health specialist for Jim Hanzo on WWL Radio.  She has served as president of the Louisiana Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and on the executive boards of the Louisiana School Counselor Association, Chi Sigma Iota Alpha Eta Chapter, and the Archdiocese of New Orleans Crisis Intervention Team.

She is the Owner, Founder, and Executive Director of the AWL Counseling Center, and the All-Ways Learning Student Support Center which offers services to address both the academic and the social/emotional aspects of learning disabilities.

Participating in Learning Disability and Autism workshops across the U.S., she holds memberships in the International Dyslexia Association, the Learning Disabilities Association of America, the Association for Childhood Education International, Counselors for Social Justice, the Louisiana Multicultural Counseling Association, and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates. Dr. Romano has served as the Director of Counseling and Special Education Services for the University of New Orleans Charter School Network, and as School Counselor at Louise S. McGehee and Our Lady of Divine Providence Schools.
She began her career as a middle school teacher at Our Lady of the Rosary and St. Philip Neri schools.
